Is Valentines day really a holiday invented by the greeting card industry to sell more cards? Well, before I started this entry I thought that was the case. According to wikipedia (which is always right) – “Handmade paper Valentines were being exchanged in various parts of Europe in the early to mid-1400s.” Even so, It does look like the Greeting card industry does make a boatload of money on valentines day, as it is second to Christmas for total cards bought and sent. Over one billion cards are sent on Valentines day.
Tracy and I celebrate Valentines Day on the 13th of February. This is a little tradition we started last year, which was our first Valentines day together. We had only been dating for a couple of weeks at the time, but I could already tell that she was special. I wanted to do something nice on Valentines day. Unfortunately, I had my girls on Valentines day. So we “rescheduled” Valentines for the day before. To us it was just as special, and we had a great night. This year we just decided to keep the tradition going, and I expect that we “reschedule” every year. I guess, that Valentines day on the 13th is really our first tradition together.
Who would have thought that one year later we would be engaged to be married, and a wedding just around the corner?
Here is a picutre of us from around the same timeframe last year
